A part of Thompson River’s University’s Education program is the tradition of writing and illustrating a book to wrap up the end of first year.

Exploring Secwepemc Moons is a non-fiction book that sequentially follows the Secwepemc peoples as they navigate the land, plants and animals throughout the year. Amy Cote and I wanted to create a resource that connected seasonal changes and environmental connectedness to local Indigenous culture. This book is applicable to a variety of Big Ideas across a span of subject ranges and grades.
